Common causes for this symptom.

  • Water inlet valve clogged or failed.

    Mineral scale or a failed solenoid stops fill water from reaching the evaporator. The machine cycles through but no slab forms. We test inlet pressure and replace the valve when the diaphragm is the culprit.

  • Dirty condenser — heat rejection issue.

    A condenser packed with kitchen grease or dust cannot reject heat, so the harvest cycle never completes and the machine throws a high-pressure code. Coil cleaning restores capacity — and avoids a $1,500+ compressor failure later.

  • Evaporator plate scale buildup.

    OC tap water is hard. Without a quarterly nickel-safe descale, scale insulates the freezing plate and ice production drops 30–50% before stopping entirely. We descale, sanitize, and reset the recommended service interval.

  • Bin-full thermostat misread.

    The bin-thermostat sensor (or curtain switch on flake/nugget machines) is reading "full" when the bin is empty. We test the sensor, clean the curtain pivot, or replace the assembly. Often this is the entire fix.
